Glass Bead Blasting
Stainless Restoration Ltd are able to provide a comprehensive Glass bead blast cleaning service to the stainless steel fabrication and manufacturing industry.
SRL employ a team of experienced blasters who work overlapping shift to allow our glass bead blasting department to operate extended hours so that we can meet customer demands and offer a speedy turn-around.
A number of blast rooms are operated, up to 15,000ft³, with dedicated equipment for blast cleaning of stainless steel and other "white" steels.
The "white" booths which is dedicated to stainless steel are kept separate from the "black" booths which are for mild/carbon steels and vice versa so no cross contamination of components is made.
We are able to deal with high volume components for a quick turn-around.
Larger one-off jobs can also be accommodated with the use of our 30 tonne overhead gantry cranes.
OFF SITE blasting services are also offered across the UK for stainless steel or black steels
A range of finishes can be created by blast cleaning, depending upon the media used and the thickness of the material treated.
SRL offer glass bead and Aluminium oxide as standard. Other types of media can be used should the customer have any specific requests.
The lustre of the surface will change between media types. Below is an example of the surface lustre differential between glass bead and aluminium oxide.
SRL do also offer a chemical pickling operation before and a light chemical wash after glass bead blasting to remove the weld oxide and chrome depleted layer prior to blasting in critical application or hostile environmental applications. Consult our technical desk for more information.

You'll see from the test evidence below that the surface of the stainless steel is dramatically performance enhanced after a pickling operation. The results below show little signs of corrosion attack after an extended exposure to an aggressive environment such as a salt spray test.
